Belinostat to create growth for TopoTarget TopoTarget – a European Oncology engine headquartered in Denmark – has bought back the US and rest of world rights to its lead product in the clinic belinostat so that the company now has global rights to the product.
Belinostat has shown positive results in clinical studies in haematological malignancies and very encouraging results in solid tumours, and the product is expected to enter its first registration study in the second half of 2008 for the disease peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma.Belinostat is being tested in multiple clinical trials for different types of cancer and TopoTarget believes the product has blockbuster potential. According to Peter Buhl Jensen, CEO of TopoTarget, the consolidation of global rights to belinostat strengthens the company and will help in the company’s pursuit of a partnership deal with a large pharmaceutical company that has development and commercial muscle.
